Rebecca Ann (Arow) Wilcox passed away suddenly on January 9, 2018. She lived at Ridgewood Rehabilitation & Care Center in Seward. Rebecca is the first child of Tom and La Verda Arow and was born in North Platte. She attended school in Lincoln - Havelock, Mickle and graduated from Northeast High School in 1965. She worked as a certified nursing assistant and at the Veterans Affairs office. She had a passion for cats and the color purple.

Rebecca is survived by her mother, La Verda Arow and sister, Sara Arow, both of Lincoln. Preceded in death by her husband, William 'Bill' Wilcox (1985); father, Tom Arow (2007); cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents.

He was a generous, and kind artist with a heart of gold. He was unjaded, and a pacifist. He set an example of how one should live for his children and for all.

On March 16, 1968 Gary was united in marriage to Beth Ann Clark in Howe, Neb. Gary was an avid fisherman, hunter and devoted grandpa.

Don D. Diehl Jr., 66, of Lincoln, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, from complications of a cardiac arrest. Living in Havelock his entire childhood with his surviving brothers, Jack and Mike, he had many friends. He graduated from Northeast High school in 1965 and served in the U.S. Navy until his injury in 1965. He worked for the Burlington Railroad and then the Goodyear plant until his retirement in 2000. In 1972, he married his wife, Linda Anne Schumacher.
Don, an avid fisherman, was a member of the Lincoln Bass Club for many years. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge about fishing with whoever would listen to him. When Don retired in 2000, he spent at least six months of every year doing what he loved best, fishing. Don was a proud member of the Tightwad Missouri Fishing Fellows. He spent many happy hours on Truman Reservoir pursuing the elusive crappie and bass.

Gloria (Dunbar) Zuelow

Gloria Kay Zuelow (Dunbar) died Sunday Oct 29 at her home after a long illness. Mrs Zuelow was born Aug 12, 1948 in Lincoln to Robert and Nadine Beezley Dunbar and graduated from Northeast. She received her bachelor of science degree in elementary education from the University of Nebraska and did graduate work at Kearney State College.

She married Terry Zuelow on June 1, 1971. She taught at Central City and Cozad. She worked from 1974-80 in an independent paint contracting business in Grand Island. She also worked from 1975-1983 at Miller and Paine. In 1986 she established the Sunshine Cleaning Company and in March of 1987 until her death she was a sales associate at Appleby's.

She is survived by two children, Kara and Ryan, both at home, her mother Nadine Dunbar and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her father.

Following graduation James joined the United States Navy on September 6, 1966. He was united in marriage to Lana Lynn Gordon in Corpus Christi. Following the completion of his duties James and Lana remained in Corpus Christi and he gained employment as an air traffic controller. He was later transferred to Lincoln, Nebraska and completed his career at Kansas City in 1981. James later moved to Tulsa and worked at the Old Village Apartments before gaining employment at the Bryce House in Tulsa, Oklahoma. James has been working there since 1990, where he has helped many people with their daily struggles with alcohol and drug addiction.

Survivors are his two children Christopher B. Govaerts of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kerilynn Duis of Terlton, Oklahoma, brother Ken Govaerts and his wife Kathy Govaerts of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister Jan Taylor and her husband Mitch of San Pedro, California; Macey, Lana, Bryson, Drake, Raelynn, Kodee, Konner; great grandson Maddox James and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Jack Govaerts; mother Betty Govaerts, wife Lana Lynn Gordon Govaerts and a son Michael James Govaerts.

He took pleasure in being around his family, especially his grandkids. He loved the holidays; the fourth of July was one of his favorites. He always had a knack for starting projects and almost finishing them. He liked to can food and gardening.

David Milhollan

David (Ross) Milhollan of Easton, MD died March 27, 2011, at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was 63. Born in Colorado Springs, Colo., on May 30, 1947, he was the son of the late Dr. Frank Milhollan and Dona Milhollan of Easton. Dave grew up in Columbus, NE and then moved to Lincoln, NE, where he graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School. After he graduated, his family moved to Maryland, where he attended The University of Maryland, earning a degree in Business Administration.

From 1969 until 1973, Dave served in the U.S. Navy. While serving in Vietnam, he was stationed on the USS Constellation. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Dave returned to Maryland with his wife, Becky, whom he married on July 5, 1969, and his twin sons, Eric and Brian. He joined his father-in-law's accounting business, during which time he earned his CPA certificate. After his father-in-law's death, he started his own accounting practice. Dave was comptroller and computer specialist for a local engineering firm for 10 years and eventually started his own accounting and computer consulting business.

Dave's passion was music. He loved barbershop music and, until his illness, he was the director of the Bay Country Chorus. During his years of barbershop singing, he was a member of both Seaford and Easton choruses. As well as a chorus member, Dave was a part of two quartets, Chesapeake Connection and Unforgettable. He also sang with the Immanuel Lutheran Church Choir and a sextet made up of special friends. In addition to music, Dave enjoyed golf, bowling, the theater and traveling with friends and family.

Lynn Ellen (Orr) McAulay, age 69, died unexpectedly on Thursday, September 1st.
Born June 30th, 1947, in Hartington, NE, to LaVonne and James Orr, she grew up in Lincoln, NE, graduating from Lincoln Northeast High School in 1965. On December 4th, 1965, Lynn married Gerald Allen McAulay, Jr., and moved to Emporium, PA, where they raised their family. Lynn was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Seward United Methodist Church. Lynn is survived by her children and grandchildren, son Jim, fiancé Terry Niedfeldt, and his children, Connor and Miranda McAulay, daughter, Theresa, and her children, Allese and Matthew McAulay, son, Ron and his wife Annie and their children, Michael, Kaitlynn, Ronnie and Liam McAulay, her mother and step father LaVonne Orr-Meyerott and Vernon Meyerott, brother and sister-in-law Ron and Diane Orr, sister Retha Saathoff, sisters and brother-in-laws Lori and Gary Blum and Mary and Steve Hetrick, step brother and sister-in-law Alan and Karen Meyerott, nieces and nephews. Lynn was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; father, Jim Orr and niece, Amanda Schreiner.

Varnell Wanice Bute, 58, Norman, Okla., died Tuesday (9/28/04) in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Bute was born on Aug. 25, 1946, in Maywood, Calif., to Volley Wally and Alice Bernice (Johnson)Pike. She graduated from high school in Lincoln in 1965. She married Steven Wayne Bute on Jan. 23, 1971, in Lincoln. They moved to Norman from Lincoln in 1982. Mrs. Bute was a member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. She enjoyed a number of outdoor activities, including camping and traveling in the family RV. She also enjoyed reading, sewing and spending time with the family dog. Mrs. Bute worked at the Goodyear tire plant and for the Safeway and Homeland stores in Norman.

Richard Crary Portman was born June 7, 1947, in Nelson, to Richard Sr. and Berneta (Walburn) Portman. In July 1970, Rich married Chris Williamson and to that union two children were born. In 1984 Rich moved to Columbus to be a recruiter for the Army National Guard. On June 11, 1988, he married Patty (Hladik) Shunk, the woman he adored and cherished for 22 years. In 1994 he retired from the Army National Guard. He then worked in sales until 2004 when he became a self-employed contractor.

Rich loved sharing time with his family and friends, but especially his three grandchildren. He enjoyed boating, fishing and Husker football. Rich’s kindness and incredible smile and laugh will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Les received a degree in Drafting Technology from the Nebraska Vocational Tech School. He served in the United States Navy in the Reserves from 1964 until 1971, and served active enlistment during the Vietnam War from 1967 until 1968. Les began his working career at Lincoln Steel as a draftsman. Later he became a partner in National Detail building large steel buildings worldwide. Les married Yvonne Splain and had daughter Amy. In April of 1999 he married Connie Kingery. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Lincoln and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife Connie, three children Amy, Shawn, and Angela and seven grandchildren.

Carol "Tobey" (Stark) Rinke, of White Rock, B.C., Canada, passed Aug. 7, 2014. Tobey was born in Lincoln to Charles & Doris (Starr) Stark on June 5, 1947. While attending the University of Nebraska and obtaining a degree in elementary education, she met and married the love of her life, Al Rinke. After her husband's death in 1984, she bravely carried on raising her three young children. Eventually, she moved to White Rock, B.C.. She was loved by all who knew her and will be remembered for her warm smile, and charitable spirit.

She is survived by daughter, Heather (Ryan) Eastwood; sons, Patrick (Tara) Rinke & Charles (Megan) Rinke; and sisters, Judy Young, Patty Mahan, Sharon Holmes, Mary Heyer, Cindy Otto, and Debbie Kraus. She is preceded in death by husband, Al; parents, Charles & Doris; brother, Kirk; and sister, Jackie. She leaves behind nine beautiful grandchildren who were the light of her life.

He is survived his brother, Dean and family ( wife Linda, daughter Darlyn, and son Devin) by his three children, Chantelle, Scott, and Trent; and his six grandchildren, Tiara, Teegan, Brooke , Hunter, Caroline, and Carter.
