Marilyn Jane Cook, 78, of West Ashley, South Carolina, wife of the late Philip Edward Cook, entered into eternal rest Monday, April 21, 2025. Her husband's memorial service was planned for 10:00 am on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, at Crosstowne Christian Church, 1941 Bees Ferry Rd, at 10:00 am. A joint service to celebrate their lives and the many years they spent together will now be held on that day at the same time. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel.
Marilyn was born November 16, 1946 in Lincoln, Nebraska, daughter of the late Clarence Carlson and Katherine Reich Carlson. Marilyn, affectionately called Oma by her family, was raised in Lincoln, Nebraska and enjoyed a career in retail for over 30 years- running dress boutiques and art galleries. She volunteered for over 13 years at Roper St. Francis Hospital delivering mail or working in the nursery. Marilyn spearheaded the opening of "Ten Thousand Villages," a nonprofit store in Greenville, SC. She was known for her excellent baking skills and will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, wife, and Oma.
She is survived by daughter, Kristyn L. Thompson (Steven) of James Island, SC; two granddaughters, Kaitlyn E. Thompson and Madelyn H. Thompson; sister, Linda K. McAdams (Douglas) of West Ashley, SC.
